The first phase of Gateway Wellness Foundation’s Disaster Relief Grant Opportunity is currently closed. We regret that we cannot accept any additional applications for funding at this time. However, we are optimistic that we will be able to provide support for longer-term recovery and rebuilding efforts in the future.

Other Hurricane Helene Relief Grants & Resources

Please see the list below for guidance on opportunities available to nonprofit organizations in various WNC counties:

  • If you are a local organization providing direct assistance to individuals and organizations directly impacted by Hurricane Helene in Polk County, NC and/or Landrum, SC, reach out to the Polk County Community Foundation to learn more about their Disaster Recovery Grants.

  • The Community Foundation of Burke County has created The Burke County Disaster Relief Fund for nonprofits in Burke County and those serving Burke County. Nonprofits involved in disaster relief activities can apply for up to $10,000 in funding.

  • If your organization serves Henderson County, NC and/or the surrounding areas, reach out to the Community Foundation of Henderson County to apply for a Helene Recovery Grant.

  • If you are in Avery, Mitchell or Yancey counties doing on-the-ground relief efforts, please reach out to AMY Wellness Foundation.

  • If you are a member organization of WNC Communities, please reach out to them first.

  • WNC nonprofits are encouraged to apply with the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina for initial $25,000 emergency and disaster relief grants for frontline human service needs and the extraordinary costs of providing emergency relief services to individuals or eligible organizations affected by the storm.

  • If you are part of Impact Health’s Health Service Organization (HSO) network, you will receive an application directly from Impact Health about support.

  • The Small Business Association Business Physical Disaster loans are available to for-profit and non-profit organizations in a declared disaster area that have experienced damage.

Gateway Wellness Foundation is providing emergency relief to those affected by Hurricane Helene in the form of grants to nonprofit organizations in Burke, McDowell, Polk, and Rutherford Counties.

Funds may be used to provide direct assistance to individuals affected by Hurricane Helene and/or support the applicant organization in recovering from or responding to Hurricane Helene. Grant funds are intended to cover the costs of providing emergency relief services to individuals or eligible organizations affected by the storm.

Grants will be accepted and awarded on a rolling basis.

Please submit only one request for funding at this time.

The recommended maximum grant request is $25,000. Requests in the range of $5,000-$10,000 are more likely to be fully funded.

Organizations applying for a grant must be:

  • A community-based nonprofit designated by the IRS as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, a faith-based organization, or a public agency serving individuals and families that were affected by Hurricane Helene.
  • Serving the following counties: Burke, McDowell, Polk, Rutherford.
