The Home Repair Partnership
A Home Repair Program for Low Income, Elderly, and Disabled McDowell County Residents.
What is the Home Repair Partnership?
Gateway Wellness Foundation’s mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of communities in our region.
Gateway’s Home Repair Partnership (HRP) brings together local churches, community leaders, and other organizations to assist low-income homeowners with urgent home repairs. HRP provides labor and materials and coordinates repair projects to ensure our neighbors can live in their homes safely and with dignity.
Do I Qualify?
To be eligible for no-cost assistance from this program, applicants must:
- Reside in McDowell County,
- Own and occupy the home in need of repair,
- Have an annual household income less than 80% of McDowell County’s median income, AND
- Have urgent repair needs that threaten the life, safety, or health of occupants.
How Do I Apply?
Interested applicants can download and complete the Home Repair Pre-Application and mail it or drop it off at:

Once the pre-application is received, we will contact you to complete a full application. Please keep in mind, there is currently a waiting list for urgent repairs. The approval and repair process may take up to 12 months.

What Types of Home Repairs Can I Get?
How Do You Get The Materials Needed?
Gateway Wellness Foundation, in conjunction with state funding and local donations, is able to provide any needed professional labor and all materials to help local families. If your family needs help but would like to contribute a small monthly repayment towards cost of materials, that money goes directly towards helping other local, struggling families. However, this is not a requirement of the program.
