Critical Funding Needs

Community Focused. People Driven.

At Gateway Wellness, critical funding needs, also known as cases for support, are the strategic needs of our local communities with a focus around Social Determinants of Health.

The generosity of our donors ensures our ability to execute supportive programs and initiatives that address health and wellness disparities across western North Carolina.

We’re in the process of looking to the community to determine the highest need regarding social determinants of health and barriers that exist in our community. By the end of our strategic planning stage we will put forth our case for support which will lay out our critical funding needs.

Thus far, through careful consideration and community surveying, the board has focused its beginning advocacy efforts around issues of Poverty, Education, and Food Security. Within in each of these efforts, we seek to approach our themes of concern specifically. The areas of specificity are as follows:

Poverty

  • Child Poverty
  • Cycles of poverty
  • Disabled individuals in poverty
  • Impoverished individuals under 65

Education

  • Language and Literacy Advocacy
  • High School Graduation and Retention
  • Early Childhood Instruction

Food Security

  • Child Hunger
  • Food Access
  • Food Deserts
  • Establishing Community Food Partners
